The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) participated in the Naitasiri Community Outreach Programme, led by the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), to bring essential tax and business services to remote interior villages of Naitasiri. From 22‑26 May 2026, FRCS staff engaged with communities in Nasava, Nasauvere, Tubarua, Matawailevu and Korovou, delivering services that included registration for Taxpayer Identification Numbers, guidance on New Dwelling House refund eligibility, business registration assistance, and support with online tax return submissions. The outreach marked the first delivery of FRCS services to these interior regions, overcoming logistical hurdles such as foot crossings of multiple rivers where formal road access is absent. Officials emphasized that all businesses, regardless of income level, must register with both the Registrar of Companies and FRCS, and must file tax returns even when earnings fall below the $30,000 threshold. Community members received clarifications on the $20 replacement fee for joint cards and were reminded of the importance of safeguarding these instruments. Partner organisations, including the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Ministry of Justice, HFC Bank, the Naitasiri Provincial Council and community policing, were thanked for their collaborative role. The initiative illustrates FRCS’s commitment to extending its service footprint, improving public understanding of tax obligations, and strengthening financial compliance in Fiji’s most isolated communities.
