On Wednesday, 24 June 2026, in Brazzaville, Congo’s Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Treasury, Christian Yoka, officially inaugurated the operational activities of the Credit Information Bureau (BIC) of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), known as Credit Info Central Africa (CICA). The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Irène Marie Cécile Mboukou Kimbatsa, representatives from the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, and senior officials of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC). Minister Yoka highlighted the strategic role of the BIC in enhancing credit transparency, reducing information asymmetry, and facilitating access to financing for businesses and financial institutions across the CEMAC region. The event included the signing of cooperation agreements that formalise data‑sharing protocols and set out frameworks for cross‑border credit reporting. Speakers underscored that the BIC will contribute to more efficient credit assessment, lower borrowing costs, and promote financial inclusion, aligning with CEMAC’s broader objectives of economic integration and stability. The launch marks a significant step toward a more robust credit information ecosystem that supports private sector growth and sustainable development in the region.
