The Tax Administration of North Macedonia has released information about a regional cooperation programme that involved a working visit by a UJP delegation to the Tax Authority of Montenegro. The delegation, headed by Director Elena Petrova, travelled to Podgorica to engage in constructive dialogue with their Montenegrin counterparts. The primary aim of the visit was to share experiences, discuss common challenges, and explore opportunities for joint initiatives that would support the modernisation of tax administration practices in both countries. Key topics covered during the meetings included the implementation of digital tax solutions, capacity‑building programmes, and the exchange of regulatory updates. The Macedonian delegation highlighted the progress made in integrating advanced IT tools within the national tax framework, while also expressing interest in learning from Montenegrin successes in areas such as taxpayer services and audit efficiency. Both parties agreed to establish a framework for ongoing cooperation, which may include joint workshops, staff exchange programmes, and collaborative research projects. This bilateral engagement underscores the commitment of the UJP to strengthen regional networks, promote best practices, and contribute to the broader European effort to harmonise tax administration standards. The visit is viewed as a significant step toward building sustainable partnerships that benefit the fiscal administrations and the taxpayers they serve.
