At the Peppol Conference Europe 2026 held in Brussels, Slovak representatives showcased the national model of electronic invoicing and e‑reporting that the country has been developing in preparation for the upcoming EU‑wide mandatory e‑invoicing regime set to commence in January 2027. The presentation highlighted the system’s interoperability, security features, and alignment with EU standards, earning commendation from both the European Commission and the OpenPeppol consortium. Slovak officials explained that the model offers businesses a choice of certified digital post‑office providers, enabling them to adopt electronic invoicing voluntarily before the legal deadline. This proactive approach is intended to facilitate smoother transition, reduce administrative burden, and foster greater efficiency in tax collection. The administration also announced support measures, including subsidies for small and medium‑sized enterprises seeking to integrate the system, and plans for extensive outreach campaigns to educate stakeholders about the benefits and requirements of electronic invoicing. This initiative positions Slovakia as a forward‑looking leader in digital tax administration within the region.
