The Norwegian Tax Administration announced that taxpayers who have been granted an extension for filing their tax return may now submit it up to and including 2 July 2026. The extension was originally granted due to extraordinary circumstances that delayed the processing of certain documentation. The Tax Administration emphasised that this deadline applies only to those whose extension has been formally approved, and that all other taxpayers must still meet the original deadline of 30 April 2026. The notice also reminded taxpayers to verify that their personal data and financial information are up to date before submission, and to use the online portal for faster processing. Approximately 4.3 million individuals had already checked their tax return by that date, with over 3 million having filed. The extension is part of a broader effort to accommodate taxpayers who experienced delays caused by technical issues within the tax system earlier in the year. The Tax Administration urged eligible taxpayers to take advantage of the additional time to avoid penalties and ensure accurate reporting. It also highlighted that any outstanding tax liabilities must be settled by the new deadline to prevent interest accrual. The guidance was published on 29 June 2026 and is intended to provide clarity for those navigating the revised schedule.
