The Tax Administration of North Macedonia has announced that it will assume the rotating presidency of the International Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA) for a one‑year term. This development was formalised during a ceremonial inauguration of IOTA’s annual meeting, which took place in Budapest as part of the organization’s 30th General Assembly. The Macedonian delegation, led by the Director of the UJP, presented the country’s priorities and outlined a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among European tax administrations. Key objectives include enhancing the exchange of best practices, facilitating joint training programmes, and promoting the digitalisation of tax processes across member states. In addition, the presidency will serve as a platform for Macedonia to advocate for the harmonisation of tax administration standards and to support regional projects that improve administrative efficiency. The UJP highlighted that the leadership role provides an unprecedented opportunity to showcase the country’s progress in modernising its tax infrastructure and to foster partnerships that benefit both domestic and international stakeholders. The administration also pledged to collaborate closely with other IOTA members to address common challenges such as combating tax evasion and improving taxpayer services through technological innovation.
